"Science City" proposed in 1973

Technology Valley drive is gathering momentum
The Hutt News, of 5 July 2011, ran a major and positive story about the Technology Valley Forum, held at GNS Science on 28 June, 2011.
Called by the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Forum was well received by those attending. This was mirrored in the Hutt News report where Simon Edwards quoted Hutt City Mayor, Ray Wallace as saying; "The Hutt Valley has half of the region's science and technology jobs, and the Seaview/Gracefield area is a hub [of that activity]. We're going to be going out and telling New Zealand and the world about that.”
