Bill Butzbach

New Zealand Fire Service Director Strategic Development

Bill holds the position of Director, Strategic Development for NZFS based at the National Office in Wellington. His role includes oversight responsibility for the Fire Service Communications Centres located in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Prior to this role he held several senior operational posts and has seen service as Fire Region Manager/Commander of Northland, Bay-Waikato and Greater Wellington.

Bill completed the Australasian Fire Authorities (AFAC) Executive Development Program in Manly 1996, the Brigade Command Course at Moreton in Marsh, England 2003, is a Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (UK), A Fellow of the NZ Fire Brigades Institute and was awarded the Degree Master of Science (with distinction) in 2004 from the University of Central Lancashire, UK.

Bill was appointed as the NZ Fire Service National Coordinator for the February Quake in Christchurch.
