Mitch Evans on fast track
Mitch Evans’s track to F1 racing is about to take another major step forward. Following successful testing in Italy earlier in the year, he has been offered a contract to join a high-profile F1 team’s junior development squad.
Final details are being considered by Mitch’s manager but acceptance of the contract will cap off a remarkable 12 months for the young Auckland racer, who is currently just three points off the lead in the Australian Formula 3 championship after missing a round while testing in Italy.
The announcement is a timely reminder for the entrants in the 2010 Elite Academy, which assembled in Dunedin on 5 July, of what is possible in motorsport. The grounding the Academy provides continues to empower young driving stars to develop their skills and talent. Evans attended the academy in 2009.
Mitch is back in the UK staying with F1 driver Mark Webber and meeting a wide range of ‘movers and shakers’ in motorsport.
