Fuel bladder expiry ruling
Fuel bladder expiry dates have been a vexed question in the sport for the past few years.
At its June meeting, the sport’s Executive decided that the requirement for replacement by an arbitrary expiry date should be replaced with a requirement for annual testing and certification once the original expiry date has passed.
“There have been many complaints from competitors who have had to replace bladders which showed no signs of damage or leaking,” said general manager Brian Budd. “Now when tested, if it doesn’t leak it’s OK.”
The Executive has asked the Sport’s Technical Department to come up with a set of testing criteria and a list of suitably qualified persons who could undertake this work.
