Clerks of the Course to test-run training plan
Clerks of the Course are to be the ‘guinea pigs’ around whom the new training structure is to be built.
The sport has engaged adult education programme specialist Dr Ann Balcombe to help build the format to provide staged training in various disciplines that can be delivered and assessed appropriately.
The templates for the structure will be built around existing Clerks of the Course training and Dr Balcombe will initially be working with chief CotC Graeme Robertson. His existing training, which already sets up A & B grade CotC, will be modified and adapted into a new modular structure.
It is intended that appropriate training programmes will be developed for various key roles required in running events including flag marshals.
Another group comprising Ian Snellgrove, Lyall Williamson and Tony Herbert has been asked to develop concepts for a driver training safety programme for new entrants to the sport.
The work is being funded by a grant from the FIA Safety Commission.
