Welcome to Diversity Issues

New Zealand in 2010 is very different from New Zealand in 1990.

We are rapidly becoming a highly multicultural country, and that presents many challenges. How can we cope with all these differences from person to person and family to family? How can we make the most of the opportunities our changing population brings? And how can we stop the stress of difference opening cracks in our society?

This site is managed by the team at the Centre for Applied Cross-Cultural Research, at Victoria University of Wellington. We see strength in diversity, and we're conducting high-quality academic research to explore exactly what that means.

On these pages, we'll be talking about cultural diversity in NZ, and the ways that it matters to everyone. Here, we're stepping out of the academic bubble and talking about issues that matter on the ground to communities and families. More importantly, we're keen to listen and we're always ready to learn.

We hope you'll stick around and join the conversation.
