About Aotearoa Solidarity Network (ASN)

Aotearoa Solidarity Network (ASN) is an organisation set up to provide funds and support to the Bangladesh Center for Worker Solidarity (BCWS), an organisation helping to advance the rights of garment workers in Bangladesh (read more about BCWS here).

The majority of garment workers in Bangladesh are women and are the lowest paid workers in the world. They are subjected to numerous human rights and wage violations. BCWS works with garment workers to enforce their rights, provide education and run day care centres for the workers children.

Members of ASN can make regular or one off donations to BCWS. Donations are sent on a monthly basis to BCWS. All money donated goes directly to BCWS (except for a Western Union transfer fee). Read about how to donate here.

Imagine being arrested, beaten and tortured for standing up for workers most basic rights. This is the reality for workers at the Bangladesh Center for Worker Solidarity (BCWS), who  have been working to improve conditions for garment workers in Bangladesh for ten years.

BCWS is widely respected for the work they do. They have helped thousands of garment workers improve their lives. Now the government of Bangladesh is trying to shut them down through intimidation and harassment, revoking their NGO status and arresting leaders on trumped up charges.

You can help support the lowest paid workers in the world by making a monthly donation to keep BCWS running. Money received goes directly to BCWS and will help with the costs of running daycare, night classes, legal costs and staff costs. Read more about BCWS here
