Time for Action!

We’ve heard that Steve Chadwick’s proposed bill to decriminalise abortion will not be put into the ballot this time around, meaning it’s not going forward at this point. While it’s disappointing news, we agree with women over at The Hand Mirror arguing that now, more than ever, is the time to raise awareness and organize around the issue, particularly focusing on the parlous state of the current law. Clearly, there’s at least one MP out there who’s willing to take action on this issue, and what we need to do is build support for such action.

To that end, ALRANZ  together with a loose coalition of pro-choice supporters have produced some – if we do say so ourselves – lovely postcards for MPs that are a great organizing and awareness-raising tool. (Thanks to Zenaida for the fabulous design.)

You can see the card and message below. The goal now is to get them in the mail.

The bill might be on hold, but the message remains the same (and there’s room for personal comments on the cards). We hope our readers and supporters will consider taking a few cards – sending one themselves, and even better, passing a few along to others who support a woman’s right to choose.
